    The 2553 Colour Camera is designed to meet the tough demands of military land service requirements and, as a result, is rugged and tolerant of abuse over a wide enviromental range. Although designed for military work, the camera is ideally suited to those commercial applications where reliability is essential. The 2553 gives this reliability at costs much less than normally associated with Mil Spec equipment.

The system is ideal for applications such as EOD `wheelbarrows' and other remote controlled vehicles, such as forklift trucks and mine clearance vehicles.
Whilst designed to meet Land Service specifications, the camera will also meet the requirements for Navy Vessels and can be used in a variety of applications such as monitoring flight decks, machinery spaces, winches and weapons trials.

The colour camera is fitted with a 12:1 zoom lens, whch gives a field of view of 4° at maximum magnification, whilst the colour/monochrome version is fitted with a 18:1 zoom lens. When the light falls, the operator can select monochrome operation for greater sensitivity.

For longer range work, Britannia manufactures a number of larger systems including the 2553 maxi. The maxi operates in colour by day and monochrome at night. The 54X zoom lens gives a field of view of 0.5°, which means that a scene 9m wide will fill the screen at 1Km.
