Real time, time-date, graphics, data & text inserter Inserts text, graphics, and scalable data into a video
picture.
The Britannia
2000 RITE unit was developed to meet a need for a flexible, yet powerful
text generator to insert characters into a video picture. Unlike
conventional character generators, RITE features a full screen graphics map,
which displays characters in the form of 8 x16 bit blocks, with features
such as drop shadow, graphics, moveable pointers, dials etc, reticules which
can vary in size according to the field of view of a lens system, and
importantly, machine readable code just outside the visible area of the
picture.
The on board
processor enables the RITE unit to be configured to meet virtually any
system integrator's requirements. Versions of RITE have been used to insert
reticules in to gun cameras, to insert ship's positional information on to
the screen, depict graphically the position of a moveable platform, with a
moveable payload with respect to a ships hull, show time of flight and real
time in missile firing recordings, etc.
The ability
to accept data and process it prior to display means that moving pointers
can indicate levels, as well as a numeric display. The RITE board can even
act as a platform for a data logging system, and the expansion port enables
analogue voltages to be digitised and displayed as on screen graphics. RITE
is used in many military systems for video annotation and will withstand the
demanding environment in which these systems operate.
